Elections, and Charlie Tennessen’s movie: History of the Lakefront YMCA Building
Ever since he was a young lad in Milwaukee, Charlie Tennessen loved movies. In fact, his adoration for them developed to the point that he began making his own movies at a very early age. He never outgrew this early passion which helped channel his curiosity about the Lakefront YMCA building and its history into a film. The desire to share his findings about the building that has stood on the shores of Lake Michigan since 1960 became the topic of his latest movie. All of downtown Racine has watched this once proud building turn into a pitiful blight.
We are privileged this coming month to view his production about the YMCA building and its place in our community. We will precede the showing with a short business meeting and discuss our slate of officers for the upcoming year. Think about contributing to the work of Preservation Racine and its mission by joining us on the board of directors.
We will serve light refreshments before the film begins. We must be out of the center by 9:00 PM, so cleanup will take place shortly after the end of the viewing.
