Celebrating Historic Places
Lessons Learned and Buildings Lost
Join us for a program featuring Michael Rehberg who will present an exceptional lecture on how buildings qualify for the National Register of Historic Places (and for the Wisconsin Historical Society list as well).
The National Register is "where you will find outstanding buildings in our area. Why was this Register created...how does a building get considered-or rejected-for the list? Who decides? Which ones can you visit, and which ones are private property? Let's take a look at some gems in Walworth and Racine Counties and thank the 'powers that be' for preserving them. To round out our picture and remind ourselves of the importance of highlighting these buildings... we will look at some buildings in hindsight we could or should have done more to save...and a few that are vulnerable today and a few buildings not on any Register." * We eagerly look forward to this very interesting and enlightening audio/visual presentation from our distinguished guest.
Light refreshments will be served.
