A Brief History Of The Klinkert Hotel And Important Tax Credits For Old Buildings
Our June meeting is a two-part presentation. Preservation Racine has been granted a wonderful opportunity to meet at the Ernest C. Klinkert hotel in Sturtevant, courtesy of owners Nancy and Joe Borzynski. This historic hotel was built in 1910 to serve passengers using the nearby train station. We will give a brief talk about its past.
Then there will be an informational discussion about tax credits available to those who own or seek to own properties of historic value. Jen Davel will talk about “The Power of Historic Tax Credits for Commercial/Main Street Buildings, Religious Properties, and Historic Homes”. This three-part program includes Q and A with Ms. Davel, who has marvelous credentials in this area. She is Midwest Regional Director of the Heritage Consulting Group and previously was part of the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), where she oversaw the restoration of the Mineral Point Opera House.
Light refreshments will be served.
