Michael Rehberg will talk to us about how buildings make it onto the National Register of Historic Places. He tells us that the National Register is where you will find outstanding buildings in our area. Why was this Register created … how does a building get considered — or rejected — for the list? Who decides? Which ones can you visit, and which ones are private property? Let’s take a look at some gems in Walworth and Racine Counties and thank the ‘powers that be’ for preserving them. To round out our picture and remind ourselves of the importance of highlighting these buildings … we will look at some buildings in hindsight we could or should have done more to save…and a few that are vulnerable today and a few buildings not on any Register.
