Preservation Racine will host its 41st Annual Tour of Historic Places on September 25, 2016

Preservation Racine’s 2016 Tour of Historic Places is featuring sites that are in close proximity to each other.   The concentration of 12 sites in the Southside Historic District will allow many of our guests to park once and comfortably complete the entire tour as a walking tour. For those preferring shorter walking distances there is ample parking available along the tour route.

The Southside Historic District, just blocks south of Racine’s downtown area, was registered in 1977 with the National Register of Historic Places.  Early leaders, successful industrialist, and professional workers built their homes in this neighborhood that contains a rich variety of architectural styles.  Guests will enjoy visiting the homes and community buildings that are located “Just Around the Corner”.

The goals of our tour are to positively present the community as we:
  • showcase homes/buildings of historic interest
  • educate tour goers of historically relevant information about the community, neighborhoods and residents
  • encourage attendees to consider the work of preserving buildings/homes
Plan now to attend our tour of historic buildings and home in Racine’s Southside Historic District.
Pictures and more information will be posted as available.

Following are the twelve sites we welcome you to tour.  (Please note that homes featured in this event are private residences and may have stairs that could possibly limit accessibility)
